Kathmandu Durbar Square is also a UNESCO Heritage Site and holds great historic significance. When Nepal was a monarch country the kingly coronations were done at this place. Though no coronations take place these days but this place is flooded with people during festivals in Kathmandu. Also called as the monkey temple of Kathmandu, the Swayambhunath Temple is situated about 3km from Kathmandu and is one of the holiest Buddhist stupas in Nepal.  This ancient temple is believed to have been built in 13th Century. It is also one of the most visited and famous places to visit in Kathmandu Nepal.
